The overall programme consists of modules of study, each of which is assessed and must be completed to a sufficient standard in order to progress through the Foundation Year.
The combination of modules is designed to ensure you have the right skills, experience and knowledge to progress to degree-level study. The course is taught using a mixture of lectures, examples classes and skills workshops.
This course gives the Internationalisation Agenda full scope and enables students to engage with advanced academic study of management disciplines, plus a strong emphasis on the practical and responsible application of management theory, which will enable graduates to confidently embark on graduate study in a multi-disciplinary global arena.
On successful completion of the courses a student should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
Markets – the development and operation of markets for resources, goods and services, including considerations of: customers, customer expectations, service and market orientation;
Business policy and strategy – the development of appropriate policies and strategies within a changing environment to meet stakeholder interests;
Finance – the sources, uses and management of finance. The use of accounting and other information systems for managerial applications;
People – the management and development of people within organisations;
Operations – the management of resources and operations;
Information systems – the development, management and exploitation of information systems and their impact upon organisations. Including the comprehension and use of relevant communication and information technologies for application in business and management.
